Dessert Bake off/barbeque/Fireworks

Fun starts at 5:00pm with yard games, beverages and socializing. Dinner will be at 6:00pm. Hamburger, hotdogs, potato salad, beans and chips ($10 donation). Let's see who this year's best bakers will be, bring a dessert for the contest; prizes will be awarded. End the evening sitting on the docks enjoying the Point Place fireworks. Point Place Parade

JRSC will be participating in the Point Place Parade. All junior and adult members are welcome to participate. The theme is Pirates, so of course we'll dominate. If you want to participate wear a JRSC shirt or pirate costume. The parade starts at noon so you can walk along Summit Street (likely close to 108th) to find our float. Lynne Fogle will be buying the candy to toss.

2025 Cattail Regatta

Schedule of Events:

Friday, May 30th

1600 – 2300: JRSC parking lot open for arrival and boat storage for traveling crews.

Saturday, May 31st (All Classes)

0800 – 1030: Registration, Rigging, and Launching.

1030: Skipper’s Meeting (mandatory).

1155: First Warning Signal.

1200: Start of First Class, Race 1. Races 2-3-4 to Follow. (No starts after 1600.)

1700: Awards and Dinner.

Cattail Regatta Dinner Info

Everyone is invited to the Steak or Chicken dinner on Saturday after the racing. $15.00 Service will start at 5pm.

Dinner includes:
            10oz strip steak or boneless chicken breast– grill yourself.
            Baked potato
            Salad
            Roll

I-LYA Dinner Fundraise

Tom Thanasiu will be hosting a fundraiser dinner before the General Meeting on Tuesday, May 13th.  It will consist of country ribs, potato, and corn, with a suggested donation of $10.  This is in support of his I-LYA class of this year. 

The food will be ready before 530pm.

Dock Opening Party

Since Mother Nature has not been cooperative with weather this Spring, we'll need additional time to get our docks ready for the 2025 sailing season.

Please note the date change for our Annual Dock Opening Party.  We will be celebrating the opening of our docks on Saturday, May 3.

Dock blessing and champagne toast will be followed by a steak dinner $15 or a chicken dinner $13....then of course music and fellowship.

First Aid Seminar - Cancelled

Sadly, the First Aid Seminar scheduled for this Sunday, April 27th is cancelled.  Hopefully we can reschedule at some point in the future.

The Jolly Roger Sailing Club invites you to a first aid seminar, "On-The-Water First Aid: What To Do and What Not To Do"

The instructors, Kellen West and Jasmine Tropf, are professionals with many years of experience in first aid trauma intervention and emergency medical treatment. Kellen and Jasmine have conducted numerous seminars and workshop over their many years of professional practice and they are well known and respected in the sailing and boating communities.

Jasmine and Kellen will present on a variety of medical emergencies: bleeding, fractures, burns, hypothermia, heat related conditions, shock, cardiac event and contacting first responders to report medical emergencies. They will likely cover other topics as well. Participants will work in small groups and have opportunities to practice intervention skills.

Fee: $20 per single, $30 per couple (fee to include morning refreshments and lunch)

This is an RSVP event and limited to sixty (60) attendees.

Sail Fleet Meeting

Sailing season is just around the corner. Yay!

We will be having a Sail Fleet Meeting on Tuesday, April 22nd at 6pm (just before the Board Meeting). We will be discussing the upcoming events for the year. 

  • Thursday night River Racing (begins May 15th)

  • Cattail Regatta (May 31st)

  • Wednesday Night Racing (Cooley Canal; PRO Tad Sandberg)

  • Turtle Island Race (formerly known as the Fall Series; August 23rd)

  • West Sister/Buccaneer Race (August 30th; PRO Dave Gonzalez)

We also have scheduled a Cattail volunteer meeting on Tuesday, May 13th (just before the membership meeting).

There has also been some discussion about cruising or informal racing events on weekends this summer. I should have some more information before our meeting on the 22nd

I hope you will be able to make this meeting on April 22nd . Participation by our racers and our volunteers continues to make these events successful.
