Sun Seekers Boat Club Visit
OCTOBER 17TH AT 3PM SSBC WILL BE BRINGING A ‘BUS FULL', THEY ARE VISITING CLUBS AND RAISING MONEY FOR "SHADES OF PINK" WHICH IS A LOCAL CHARITY THAT HELPS WOMEN AND FAMILIES UNDERGOING TREATMENT FOR BREAST CANCER.
LETS SHOW THEM A JOLLY GOOD TIME!
I ASK THAT ANYONE WISHING TO GET IN ON THE FUN BE AT THE CLUB BY 2:30 TO WELCOME THEM IN.
THEY ONLY HAVE AN HOUR WITH US SO LETS MAKE THE MOST OF IT.

Boat Pull Out Party
REMINDER: Saturday 10/10 is boat pull out day. Please let me know if you are planning to be there to help pull boats. We need at least 5 on the docks/bulkhead to help move and hoist boats and 3 to help at the washing station behind the club. Many hands make light work. We will start at about 9:30 am. If you are planning to pull your boat that day let me know, and it is recommended to remove sails/boom and make sure to pump out your bilge before the hoist. Also check the tires on your trailers to make sure they are inflated.

JRSC’s 80th Anniversary Party
Ahoy Mateys! National Speak Like a Pirate Day is the following week so feel free to come dressed as a pirate and we’ll start Yo ho-ho-ing, Aye-ing and ARRRR-ing early this year! Volunteers are needed for set up, clean up, raffle ticket sales, and bar. Feel free to bring a dessert to share with attendees!

General Meeting
Dear JRSC Members,
Just a friendly reminder that our JRSC Elections will be held on Tuesday, September 8th during our General Membership Meeting.
Elections are an important part of keeping our club moving forward, and we encourage all members to attend, cast their votes, and have a voice in the leadership of JRSC for the coming year.
This year, we will be electing members to fill the Vice Commodore and two Trustee positions. If you are interested in running for either position or would simply like to learn more about what serving in one of these roles involves, please reach out to Commodore Trey or myself. We would be happy to answer any questions and talk through the responsibilities with you.
If you would like to be considered for Vice Commodore or Trustee, please prepare a short letter introducing yourself and sharing a little about why you are interested in serving the club. Your letter will be read at the meeting by the Elections Committee and will also be published in the Skulldugger so that our membership has an opportunity to get to know the candidates. This letter will need to be submitted to Trey or myself no later than Monday August 24th.
Serving in a leadership position is a great way to become more involved, bring your ideas to the table, and play a part in shaping the future of JRSC. We hope members who have considered getting more involved will take this opportunity to step forward.
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us on September 8th. Whether you're running for a position or coming to cast your vote, your participation matters.

2026 Turtle Island Race
The JRSC Turtle Island Race will primarily be sailed in the Ottawa River and Maumee Bay, with the start and finish lines off the JRSC T-Dock with racers ultimately rounding Turtle Island.
The length and exact course will depend on wind conditions and the performance capabilities of the fleet. (Should weather conditions warrant, all racing will be restricted to the Ottawa River.)
Exact details regarding the Course, Class Start Times, etc. will be communicated at the mandatory Skipper’s Meeting. Should racing around Turtle Island finish early, optional River Races will be run for “bragging rights” and secondary awards.
Registration will occur on the day of the event. We strongly suggest that you email us in advance if you plan to attend, so that we may have ample food on hand for all participants. Non-racers are welcome to join us for dinner for $15 per person.

31st Annual “Last Bash”
The Friday evening dinner at Blackberry Corners at 6 p.m. is going ahead as planned. HOWEVER….. as you know, the plan for Saturday for the "land cruisers" was to meet up with those sailors on the annual Club cruise at Safe Harbor Marina in Sandusky ....good old "Mother Nature" is not being kind to us....so.....due to the "not great" weather forecast for Saturday, the Saturday get together and cookout has been CANCELLED.

THIRTY- ONE YEARS AGO WE WERE ALL GETTING READY TO PUT OUR BOATS TO BED FOR A LONG WINTERS NAP. IT SEEMED LIKE A MORTAL SIN BECAUSE THE SUMMER AND THE ENTIRE SAILING SEASON HAD GONE SO FAST. THERE HAD TO BE ONE MORE LAST WEEKEND TO COMMERATE OR AT LEAST CLOSE THE SAILING SEASON WITH AN EXCLAMATION MARK. GRANTED, TODAY THE SEASON WILL NOT BE ENDING ON AUGUST 22, BUT IT IS TIME TO START PLANNING FOR IT AND MAKING RESERVATIONS.
THIS YEAR WE ARE TRYING TO ACCOMMODATE THOSE OF YOU WHO LONG TO RETURN TO PUT-IN-BAY AGAIN AS MANY OF THE LAST BASH PAGES WERE WRITTEN THERE. THE FIRST STOP ON THIS YEAR’S ANNUAL CLUB CRUISE WILL BE A 2 NIGHT STAY AT MIDDLE BASS ISLAND IN FULL VIEW OF PERRY’S MONUMENT. FOR THOSE OF YOU STILL LONG FOR “THE ROCK” (Put in Bay), A MERE TWELVE-MINUTE FERRY BOAT RIDE ON THE “SONNY S” WILL GET YOU TO SOUTH BASS. FROM THAT POINT, THE CRUiSE WILL CONTINUE ON. ALONG WITH PC JERRY GATES, LADY BECKIE AND PC PHIL FRY, WE ARE GOING TO INCORPORATE THE LAST BASH INTO OUR ANNUAL JRSC CRUISE WEEK. SEE THE CRUISING SCHEDULE AND DESTINATIONS BELOW.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO FIND IT HARD TO SPEND AN ENTIRE WEEK AWAY, ON FRIDAY NIGHT, AUGUST 21, WE HAVE PLANNED OUR ANNUAL LAST BASH DINNER OUTING AT BLACKBERRY CORNERS, (5975 N ELLISTON TROWBRIDGE RD, MARTIN, OH) APPROX. THREE MILES DUE SOUTH OF MEINKE’S, FOR A GREAT DINNER AT SURPRISINGLY LOW COST. THIS DINNER ENABLES EVERYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND THE LAST BASH BUT FIND IT HARD TO BE AWAY ALL WEEK WITH THE CRUISERS, TO ENJOY THE CAMARADERIE.
NOW FOR THE BEST PART, THE SATURDAY AFTERNOON, AUGUST 22, WE WILL RENDEZVOUS ONCE AGAIN WITH THE CRUISERS FOR A COOKOUT AT SAFE HARBOR MARINA NEAR SANDUSKY. WE HAVE RESERVED THE COVERED PAVILION WITH GAS GRILLS AVAILABLE. FESTIVITIES WILL BEGIN AT ABOUT 4 P.M. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MEAT TO GRILL, BEVERAGES AND A DISH TO PASS.
