Dock Work Party

Our pseudo weatherman John, also know as our dock chair, is trying to keep you dry again by having a dock work party on SUNDAY, starting 9AM. Hopefully this will be one of the last dock work parties before we launch the fingers and get back to boating. There are several floats missing from the main dock, and hopefully new floats will be on site by Sunday for installation.

Carson Cup Planning Meeting

At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday 5/14, prior to the general membership meeting, we will be holding a Carson Cup planning meeting.  Volunteers are needed and the event date is June 16th.  We are collecting items for a Jolly Good Time Family Fun Basket that we are assembling for the Swan Boat Club fundraiser.  No alcohol but are looking for other items like games, snacks, and things families can do together (gift cards are good too).  Please bring items to the May 14th general meeting.  Thank you.

Point Place Parade

Save the Date

Point Place Parade - Saturday June 1st (I realize this is the same day as the Cattail Regatta). Please let Lynne Fogle know if you are interested in participating with the JRSC float. Help is needed pulling a small sailboat, decorating the boat, walking in the parade tossing out candy, and donating candy. This is a great opportunity to let Point Place residents see what we're about.

Dock Work Party

We are getting to the end of the dock project, just a couple more items to complete before we launch the docks.

A weekday crew managed to get the new hoist mounted and the ramp removed so its attachment to the bulkhead could be repaired. A big thanks to our friends at RVYC who helped with their forklift.

Now we need to finish getting the main dock repaired. There are a lot of rotten boards to pull up and replace.

Once the main dock is done we can have a final work party to launch and install the fingers.

Since there are a few wimps who don’t like working in the rain (me for one) we are going to have the work party on SUNDAY, not Saturday this week. Sunday is supposed to be dry and 82, a beautiful day for working outside.

Please come out for the dock work party on Sunday starting at 9:00 am.

If you have any questions, please reach out to John Vogel at one.wayhome@hotmail.com.

Dock Work Party

Finger docks are almost complete. GREAT WORK everyone. Just a couple more work parties and we can enjoy the results of our efforts. Now we need to get the main dock repaired. There are a lot of rotten boards to pull up and replace so no one puts a foot through them during the dock opening. Once the main dock is done we can have a final work party to launch and install the fingers.

Please come out for the dock work party on Saturday starting at 9:00 am.

If you have them please bring:

  • 9/16 wrenches and sockets

  • Drill

  • Impact Wrench

  • A willingness to work.

If you have any questions, please reach out to John Vogel at one.wayhome@hotmail.com.

Fitness/Weight Loss Challenge

Many club members have mentioned wanting to drop a few pounds and be more active.  Starting Friday January 5th we will have our first weigh-in and exercise class starting at 4:30pm.   I will bring my scale and make individual cards for each person; we will go on the honor system for recording weight. We will meet weekly; there will be a $3.00 fee each week.  Each month the male and female with the greatest percentage of body weight loss will win the money pot for their gender.

After weighing in, we will exercise for 30 to 45 minutes with exercises for all age groups (chair yoga, cardio drumming, Zomba).  If you don't want to participate in the challenge, feel free to come out to exercise with us.  We will be done in time for members to have dinner at the club and play euchre if they wish.  If you have any questions email Lynne at lmfogle@hotmail.com

Also does anyone have any reason that they might be heading to the Niles MI area.  A person is selling several cardio drumming sets in Niles for a great price, and I'd like to get them for the club.

Cancelled - Winter Euchre

Am sorry to report that all club events planned for today and Friday are cancelled as the main furnace at the club is not working. This includes Euchre so if you know of non-club members who come out for this please let them know.

Parts are on order, but it is doubtful they will be installed in time for any events this week.

If anything changes I will let you know.
