Introduction
One of the objectives of Jolly Roger Sailing Club is the promotion and encouragement of sailing and sailing yacht racing for pleasure and sport. This is in addition to the fostering of good fellowship among its members, and providing the facilities for such purposes. In other words, a principle goal of Jolly Roger Sailing Club is to sponsor and promote sailing activities while endorsing good seamanship, fellowship, and camaraderie among sailors of varying degrees of abilities. It is for this reason that Jolly Roger Sailing Club sponsors multiple race series and several regattas throughout the year with the purpose of providing sailors a place to sail and compete with others.

Jolly Roger Sailing Club sponsors eight different weeknight race series throughout the summer, three weekend regattas, and one-design class championships whenever an opportunity arises. The club is dedicated to conducting these races in a professional and fair manner while encouraging participation and understanding that not all competitors have the same seriousness and level of ability. It is for this reason that Jolly Roger Sailing Club provides One-design classes, PHRF classes, Jib and Main classes, and the revolutionary Fun Fleet.

The Fun Fleet is designed for sailors that are new to racing or the sport of sailing. It is also a perfect opportunity for cruisers who want to participate in sailing activities, but do not want to purchase expensive new sails, or remove heavy amenities from their boats which provides the comfort and options that make sailing appealing to them. Jolly Roger Sailing Club is truly dedicated to giving everyone an opportunity to compete in a class that best suits their needs and abilities.

Jolly Roger Sailing Club sponsors two weeknight one-design race series on Thursday evenings on the Maumee Bay. One-design racers can compete with others in their same class and enjoy the camaraderie of friends before, after and during the races. The club provides a hoist and bulkhead for members to keep their boats at the club with the masts up and ready for launch. It also provides access to the hoist for others who enjoy trailering their boats to the club for racing or cruising. Sailors conclude the evening by swapping sailing stories at the club with their competitors and friends.

Jolly Roger Sailing Club sponsors three race series for handicap boats on Thursday evening on the Maumee Bay. Handicap racers gather to race around the Maumee Bay and Turtle Island area. This series is popular for sailors who dock their boats in the Ottawa River area, but is occasionally an activity of enjoyment for our sailing friends down the Maumee River. Once again, the club is open for the evening and racers can be seen swapping sailing stories with their competitors and friends.

Jolly Roger Sailing club also sponsors three race series for handicap boats on Wednesday evening out of the Cooley Canal. These race series were devised to offer members who require deeper water than the Ottawa River could provide the last several seasons the benefit of club sponsored sailing activities. Racers enjoy the company of their fellow competitors at the conclusion of the evenings races at a central gathering place. Handicap race series were conveniently planned on different nights of the week so members can participate in not just one, but two evenings of racing throughout the week.

Jolly Roger Sailing Club also sponsors three weekend regattas throughout the year. The Cattail regatta is a one-design regatta where sailors can compete on a more competitive level by sailing with other sailors who live to far away to travel to the weeknight series. The Buccaneer race is a handicap race with several different classes. This race sails around set marks on the lake, and is a part of Lake Erie Race Week. The Fall Series is a windward ? leeward race for handicap boats and one-design keelboats. This race is composed of several different classes and is traditionally considered the grand finale of Jolly Roger Sailing Clubs? racing season, as it is the last club-sponsored race of the year.

All Sailors are encouraged to participate in any and all of Jolly Roger Sailing Clubs? races.
